  1. Best of Video Game Music – Day 24

    Best of Video Game Music

It might be a bit delayed, but here it i,. the last entry for the transportation theme. We’ve mentioned Transformers, a toy-line and animated series from the 80s. But of course there were others. The one i remember the most from my childhood is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, even if they changed ninja to hero over here because ninjas were too violent or something similar. I haven’t played too many of the games based on TMNT, but even if I hate the water stage in TMNT to the NES, I really liked TMNT2 and.. (more…)

  2. Best of Video Game Music – Day 22

    Best of Video Game Music

As we’ve already mentioned, spaceships are another form of transportation, but this time it isn’t about an aerobot transformer. Instead it’s about the kind that humans fly through space and shoot evil aliens, and no it isn’t about Space Invaders. And to be honest, this will include a lot of songs from the game as it’s a remix/medley featured in a rythm-game to the PS2 and Arcade. Here’s a hint: up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, start. (more…)

  3. Best of Video Game Music – Day 21

    Best of Video Game Music

My second song this week will also feature one of those boring racing games. But even if this song is a lot different from my previous entry it might actually be better. They’re kinda hard to compare. This time it’s actually a song from an arcade game and even if I’ve never played the arcade version myself I’ve played a sequel quite much. And I have to say that it’s very entertaining, even if my friends beat me most of the time. (more…)

    Best of Video Game Music

As I said in an earlier post, the theme this week will be ‘transportation’. And one thing you could use for that is cars. I’m not sure yet but that might be a recurring thing this week. So what can you do with a car? Casual driving or racing. Or why not play a racing video game. There’s a lot of them and while the ones from the past isn’t as realistic and good-looking as the new ones, some of them had really good music. This song is one of the first racing games I played to the old Super Nintendo Entertainment System, and I fell in love with the song at once.

  5. Best of Video Game Music – Day 18

    Best of Video Game Music

And it’s finally here, the last song of the fighting theme. It might be the funkiest song this far, and that’s one reason why I like it. The game itself can brag about stuff like horrible controls and a Japanese version which is way easier than the other releases. So what is this mysterious game I’m talking about?

  6. Sorry for the delay

    October 16, 2011 by varg

Quite some time have passed since the last post. Some stuff happened and I haven’t had enough time to update. But now I’m finally back, and hopefully I can resurrect the ‘Best of Video Game Music’-series once again. I will continue where we left off, the last day of the fighting-theme. I’ll also try to write some other posts again soon, not sure when though.

There might be a new layout for rawr.se quite soon, although I’m not sure when it’ll be ready. I’ve also decided to add Disqus so it’ll be easier to login when you want to add a comment.

The theme for next week will be: Transportation

  7. Best of Video Game Music – Day 16

    August 26, 2011 by varg

As most of my friends already know I’ve listened to metal music for quite a while. I also like fighting games, even though I’m horrible at them. So which series am I talking about if I’m mentioning those two things?

  8. Extreme Makover: Video-Game Edition

    August 24, 2011 by varg

Something that I’ve been thinking about lately is; how many times can you repackage a game, perhaps update the graphics or audio, add an extra dungeon, and sell it again? Some games, especially Final Fantasy IV and Lunar: The Silver Star, have been remade a couple of times now. And while the first remakes of FFIV were simple ports, with added movies, the latest version is quite nice to look at.

  9. Best of Video Game Music – Day 13

    August 23, 2011 by varg

Song number 13 and it isn’t even on a Friday. As it’s a new week it’s also time for a new theme. This time it is ‘Fight!’. I won’t begin with a song from Street Fighter II even though it is tempting.

A while ago when I played the rhythm-game Osu!, which is a game inspired by ‘Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan!’, I found a japanese artist called Hyadain who writes lyrics to video game songs. One of the songs I really liked was his Yie Ar Kung~Fu rap. And the song is awesome even without the lyrics so here it is.

  10. Best of Video Game Music – Day 12

    August 21, 2011 by varg

It’s one day late, but here the last song for this week. Ever heard of a video game series called Castlevania? I kind of mentioned it in the first post this week but here it is again. So what song did I choose then? Vampire Killer? Bloody Tears? Not really, but it’s from the same game as Bloody Tears and it’s Dwelling of Doom from Simon’s Quest. The game isn’t one of the best even though they tried some interesting ideas, the mansions are one of the worst parts of the game, but the music is just awesome. Enjoy!
